Chapter 6 (Residential and Non-Residential Burglary) - 550 Words

Chapter 6 (Residential and Non-Residential Burglary) (Essay Sample) Content: Chapter 6 (Residential and Non-Residential Burglary) Name: Institution: Chapter 6 (Residential and Non-Residential Burglary) 1. Compare and contrast the four specific burglary classifications that are constructed in police reporting methods Burglary is described as any form of unlawful entry into any structure or building by an individual or group with an intention of committing theft or any type of felony. In police reporting methods, there are four main types of burglary classifications namely forcible entry, unlawful entry, attempted forcible entry and home invasion/completed burglary (Hagan, 2010, p.62). Forcible entry is identified as when a person uses force in a bid to gain entry into a building or structure while attempted forcible entry is described when an intruder attempts to gain entry into a structure or building by using force (Moore, 2010, p.113). On the other hand, unlawful entry without force refers to the illegal entry into a bu ilding or structure without any form of force while a home invasion refers to the completed burglar where the intruder gains entry into the building or structure with or without force (Palmiotto, 2004, p.82). Forcible entry and attempted forcible entry are nearly identical with the difference being that forcible entry is achieved when the intruder has successfully entered the structure illegally while in attempted forcible entry, the intruder must not have committed the crime but had the intention to. In these both cases however, there has to be evidence of the use of force or the attempted use of force being used to gain entry into the premises illegally. On the other hand, unlawful entry without force depicts gaining entry into a building or structure illegally without using force while a home invasion is the illegal entry into a premise either with or without force. In these both cases, the intruder successfully breaks into the building or structure and is ready to commit a fel ony or theft. 2. Compare and contrast novice and professional burglars Novice burglars are young people usually from the lower or middle class and are at the beginning of their careers as burglars. In most cases, novice burglars attempt a few burglars before deciding to quit or continue on to become professionals. Most of these novices do not have the criminal culture in them and are simply searching for an identity in burglary. Moreover, such burglars only expect at most 10% of the value of the stolen item when sold to a ‘fence’ since they have no prior experience in such sales (Holmes, Maahs, & Vito, 2005, p.153). On the other hand, professional burglars are well experienced in burglary with many years of active crime. This means that these professionals have the required technical skills, planning capabilities and a well-known status in the crime world given by the police or other criminals. A professional burglar therefore has been successful for a high number o.. .

Generativity refers to making your mark on the world, through caring for others, creating things and accomplishing things that make the world a better place (Cherry). By contrast, stagnation is failing to find ways to contribute. The third woman, although retired, has found many activities to participate in. She coaches sports teams, officiates games, and runs a pool. She also plays sports and has become more involved in her nieces and nephews lives. Although she is not married, she has found other things to fulfill her. She states that many people run into the problem, once they retire, of not being able to find something to fulfill them. Dyslexia Problems Essay Example For Students

Dyslexia Problems Essay The problem that effects one out of every ten kidsin the United States of America is dyslexia. Although to some people thisdisorder may be very noticeable, it can really sneak up on you. Most ofthe time kids with dyslexia arent recognized until they are about eightor nine. The most important thing to remember is that is takes time tosolve, and sometimes cannot be cured at all. Dyslexia develops during thefirst six months of gestation . Neurons are churned out in the brainsventricular zone. Attached to fibers, the neurons travel to the cerebralcortex, which contains the language centers. Here they hit a barrier, stop and take their place in layers above previously deposited neurons,(which is normal). In the brains of dyslexics, how-ever, there arebreaches in the barrier and the neurons enter them, leaving clumps ofnerve cells called ectopias, which appear to interface with the brainsability to receive and transmit certain messages. They are now findingthat dyslexia can run in the family. If you or your other relatives havedyslexia that means that there is a chance that your own child could haveit. Unlike what most people think, dyslexia is not to be blamed on theparent for negligence in teaching reading and writing. Dyslexia is notany ones fault it simply occurs when the barrier in the language center ofyou brain cracks. In some experiments done by the University of Montreal, they are comparing good adult readers to dyslexic adult readers. In mostcases the adult dyslexics were at about the high school level. When theadult dyslexics were compared to third graders in matching sounds withletters, they scored below the eight and nine year olds that were tested. Its not just a visual problem, actually they can see the letters fine, itis more of a comparing problem. Dyslexics usually cannot spell simplewords by just hearing someone speak them to them. Some of the mostconfusing words for them are cat and dog. Although over time the symptomscan be fine-tuned, they never go completely away. As said before dyslexiais not a disease it cannot be cured with any pill or medicine. The onlycure so far is many long and slow classes of multisensory sessions. Thesesessions go through each letter, sound, syllable, etc. until other partsof the brain help the person to recognize the letters in another helpfulway. The fact that you child may have dyslexia doesnt mean that they willbe unsuccessful. Some examples of people who have to live(d) withdyslexia are people like Whoopi Goldberg who is famous for her many rolesin the movie industry, another person is Albert Einstein who is famous forthe theory of relativity, and Winston Churchill the former Prime Ministerof England. As you can see these people were very successful andinfluential in their life. In conclusion I have found that children are areal threat to this disorder, especially in the United States of America. We may not have the highest illiteracy rate in the world but the childrenstill need all the language and speech classes that they can fit in theirschedule. Children usually find the ability to read very boring andunimportant. What we need to be teaching them is how much the skilledreader is important to the world around them and that they cannot do manythings without being able to read. They also need to learn that theyshould treasure the fact that they can read, because the children of theworld with dyslexia are much worse off than they are. Dyslexia is a veryserious problem and needs to be researched further.
