Chapter 6 (Residential and Non-Residential Burglary) (Essay Sample) Content: Chapter 6 (Residential and Non-Residential Burglary) Name: Institution: Chapter 6 (Residential and Non-Residential Burglary) 1. Compare and contrast the four specific burglary classifications that are constructed in police reporting methods Burglary is described as any form of unlawful entry into any structure or building by an individual or group with an intention of committing theft or any type of felony. In police reporting methods, there are four main types of burglary classifications namely forcible entry, unlawful entry, attempted forcible entry and home invasion/completed burglary (Hagan, 2010, p.62). Forcible entry is identified as when a person uses force in a bid to gain entry into a building or structure while attempted forcible entry is described when an intruder attempts to gain entry into a structure or building by using force (Moore, 2010, p.113). On the other hand, unlawful entry without force refers to the illegal entry into a bu ilding or structure without any form of force while a home invasion refers to the completed burglar where the intruder gains entry into the building or structure with or without force (Palmiotto, 2004, p.82). Forcible entry and attempted forcible entry are nearly identical with the difference being that forcible entry is achieved when the intruder has successfully entered the structure illegally while in attempted forcible entry, the intruder must not have committed the crime but had the intention to. In these both cases however, there has to be evidence of the use of force or the attempted use of force being used to gain entry into the premises illegally. Dyslexia Problems Essay Example For Students
Dyslexia Problems Essay The problem that effects one out of every ten kidsin the United States of America is dyslexia. Although to some people thisdisorder may be very noticeable, it can really sneak up on you. Most ofthe time kids with dyslexia arent recognized until they are about eightor nine. The most important thing to remember is that is takes time tosolve, and sometimes cannot be cured at all. Dyslexia develops during thefirst six months of gestation . Neurons are churned out in the brainsventricular zone. Attached to fibers, the neurons travel to the cerebralcortex, which contains the language centers. Here they hit a barrier, stop and take their place in layers above previously deposited neurons,(which is normal). In the brains of dyslexics, how-ever, there arebreaches in the barrier and the neurons enter them, leaving clumps ofnerve cells called ectopias, which appear to interface with the brainsability to receive and transmit certain messages. They are now findingthat dyslexia can run in the family. If you or your other relatives havedyslexia that means that there is a chance that your own child could haveit. Unlike what most people think, dyslexia is not to be blamed on theparent for negligence in teaching reading and writing. Dyslexia is notany ones fault it simply occurs when the barrier in the language center ofyou brain cracks. In some experiments done by the University of Montreal, they are comparing good adult readers to dyslexic adult readers. In mostcases the adult dyslexics were at about the high school level. When theadult dyslexics were compared to third graders in matching sounds withletters, they scored below the eight and nine year olds that were tested. Its not just a visual problem, actually they can see the letters fine, itis more of a comparing problem. Dyslexics usually cannot spell simplewords by just hearing someone speak them to them. Some of the mostconfusing words for them are cat and dog. Although over time the symptomscan be fine-tuned, they never go completely away. As said before dyslexiais not a disease it cannot be cured with any pill or medicine. The onlycure so far is many long and slow classes of multisensory sessions. Thesesessions go through each letter, sound, syllable, etc. until other partsof the brain help the person to recognize the letters in another helpfulway. The fact that you child may have dyslexia doesnt mean that they willbe unsuccessful. Some examples of people who have to live(d) withdyslexia are people like Whoopi Goldberg who is famous for her many rolesin the movie industry, another person is Albert Einstein who is famous forthe theory of relativity, and Winston Churchill the former Prime Ministerof England. As you can see these people were very successful andinfluential in their life. In conclusion I have found that children are areal threat to this disorder, especially in the United States of America. We may not have the highest illiteracy rate in the world but the childrenstill need all the language and speech classes that they can fit in theirschedule. Children usually find the ability to read very boring andunimportant. What we need to be teaching them is how much the skilledreader is important to the world around them and that they cannot do manythings without being able to read. They also need to learn that theyshould treasure the fact that they can read, because the children of theworld with dyslexia are much worse off than they are. Dyslexia is a veryserious problem and needs to be researched further.

What is the first thing you think of when you hear the term invisible strength? When I first heard it, all I could think about was a body-builder wearing the invisibility cloak from Harry Potter. After reading The Joy Luck Club however, I realize that Invisible strength is a trait that we should all strive to get. Invisible strength comes in many forms and does many things. In the Joy Luck Club, Amy Tan is trying to show that even in the worst of circumstances, people can gain control over their own lives with the motif of invisible strength. This motif develops within the Jong family between both Lindo and Waverly. Lindo first discovers invisible strength as a young girl living in China. She is forced into a marriage she does not want and learns that she has to remain strong. ââ¬Å"I asked myself, What is true about a person? [â⬠¦] And then I realized it was the first time I could see the power of the wind. We will write a custom essay sample on The Power of Invisible Strengths or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I couldnââ¬â¢t see the wind itself, but I could see it carried the water that filled the rivers and shaped the countryside. â⬠(58) In this moment Lindo realizes the power of the wind, a recurring symbol of invisible strengths. The wind is invisible yet strong. This realization allows her to stay strong and push through her troubles. She does this while still remaining true to herself. ââ¬Å"I wiped my eyes and looked in the mirror. I was surprised at what I saw. [â⬠¦] I was strong. I was pure. I had genuine thoughts inside that no one could see, that no one could ever take away from me. I was like the wind. â⬠(58) Lindoââ¬â¢s realization that she is like the wind helps her recognize that she does not only have to push through her problems, she has to solve them. Amy Tan is showing that this ability to remain invisible and strong is needed for individuals to take control of their own lives. Later, in the story ââ¬Å"Rules of the Gameâ⬠, Waverly shows signs of having this same trait. ââ¬Å"Lau Po, as he allowed me to call him, turned out to be a much better player than my brothers. I lost many games and many Life Savers. But over the weeks, with each diminishing roll of candies, I added new secrets. â⬠(95) Though this passage is not as life altering as Lindoââ¬â¢s, it shows that when she loses many games of chess, she doesnââ¬â¢t quit. Waverly also starts to gain new tricks to use in chess, which is a game where people must be able to hide their future moves and appear invisible to win. This reveals that both mother and daughter are able to use their invisible strengths to persevere in tough times and learn how to improve their lives. After Lindo realizes that she is strong like the wind, she uses her new found strength to fix her problems. When Lindo is forced into her first marriage, her mother-in-law gives her a lot of gold jewelry. à In Chinese culture, metal makes wives heavy, which in turn lets them settle down and be good housewives. However, once the mother-in-law believes the metal is making Lindo infertile, she takes it all away. Without the metal Lindo feels empowered. And it was good news for me too. Because after the gold was removed from my body, I felt lighter, more free. They say this is what happens if you lack metal. You begin to think as an independent person. That day I started to think about how I would escape this marriage without breaking my promise to my family. â⬠(63) Here, Lindo realizes that she needs to escape her marriage while also staying true to herself and her promise to her family. Lindo uses her invisible strengths to trick the mother-in-law into believing the marriage was doomed and that her son, Lindoââ¬â¢s husband, will die. Waverly also uses her invisible strength as a child to win chess games. ââ¬Å"As I began to play, the boy disappeared, the color ran out of the room, and I saw only my white pieces and his black ones waiting on the other side. A light wind began blowing past my ears. It whispered secrets only I could hear. ââ¬Å"Blow from the South,â⬠it murmured. ââ¬Å"The wind leaves no trail,â⬠I saw a clear path, the traps to avoid. â⬠(96) Multiple times in the book, invisible strength is referred to as the wind. The wind is unseen yet has power. Here, Waverlyââ¬â¢s moves are unseen and being a nine year old girl makes her an unexpected opponent. This gives her power over her opponents and allows her to become a national chess champion. Amy Tan uses the hidden knowledge and tricks of the Jong family to show how someone is able to be strong and unexpected. The Joy Luck Club stories about the Jong family are stories of strength. The girls need this strength to be where they want to in life. They both remain strong in tough times, notice things others do not and use it as hidden knowledge, and make people think they are weak when they actually wield power. Amy Tan shows that invisible strength is needed to let individuals gain control of their own lives.

Phoneme Definition and Examples in English
Phoneme Definition and Examples in English In linguistics, a phoneme is the smallest sound unit in a language that is capable of conveying a distinct meaning, such as the s of sing and the r of ring. Adjective: phonemic. Phonemes are language-specific. In other words, phonemes that are functionally distinct in English (for example, /b/ and /p/) may not be so in another language.Ã (Phonemes are customarily written between slashes, thus /b/ and /p/.) Different languages have different phonemes. Etymology: From the Greek, sound Pronunciation: FO-neem Examples and Observations The central concept in phonology is the phoneme, which is a distinctive category of sounds that all the native speakers of a language or dialect perceive as more or less the same...[A]lthough the two [k] sounds in kicked are not identical- the first one is pronounced with more aspiration than the second- they are heard as two instances of [k] nonetheless...Since phonemes are categories rather than actual sounds, they are not tangible things; instead, they are abstract, theoretical types or groups that are only psychologically real. (In other words, we cannot hear phonemes, but we assume they exist because of how the sounds in languages pattern as they are used by speakers.) (Thomas E. Murray, The Structure of English:Ã Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology. Allyn and Bacon,Ã 1995)Two points need to be stressed: (1) the most important property of a phoneme is that it contrasts with the other phonemes in the system, and hence (2) we can only speak of the phoneme of some particular speec h variety (a particular accent of a particular language). Languages differ in the number of phonemes they distinguish...but every valid word in every language necessarily consists of some permissible sequence of that languages phonemes. (R.L. Trask,Ã A Dictionary of Phonetics and Phonology. Routledge, 2004) An Alphabetical Analogy: Phonemes and Allophones The concepts of phoneme and allophone become clearer by analogy with the letters of the alphabet. We recognize that a symbol is a despite considerable variations in size, colour, and (to a certain extent) shape. The representation of the letter a is affected in handwriting by the preceding or following letters to which it is joined. Writers may form the letter idiosyncratically and may vary their writing according to whether they are tired or in a hurry or nervous. The variants in the visual representations are analogous to the allophones of a phoneme, and what is distinctive in contrast to other alphabetic letters is analogous to the phoneme. (Sidney Greenbaum, The Oxford English Grammar. Oxford University Press, 1996) Differences Between Members of a Phoneme We cannot rely on the spelling to tell us whether two sounds are members of different phonemes. For example...the words key and car begin with what we can regard as the same sound, despite the fact that one is spelled with the letter k and the other with c. But in this case, the two sounds are not exactly the same...If you whisper just the first consonants in these two words, you can probably hear the difference, and you may be able to feel that your tongue touches the roof of the mouth in a different place for each word. This example shows that there may be very subtle differences between members of a phoneme. The sounds at the beginning of key and car are slightly different, but it is not a difference that changes the meaning of a word in English. They are both members of the same phoneme. (Peter Ladefoged and Keith Johnson, A Course in Phonetics, 6th ed. Wadsworth, 2011)

Interpersonal conflict between stakeholders Essay
Interpersonal conflict between stakeholders - Essay Example Three per cent of nurses reported verbal threats (Whitworth, 2008). Distress was experienced by 66%. Females were the main perpetrators. Conflict had been described as a social behavior between individuals who attempted to gain something both could not have (Moss, 2002). Nursing conflicts had been termed as role conflict (Cooper, 2003), burnout (Poncet, 2007), horizontal violence (Abu Alrub, 2004) and intergenerational conflict (Swearingen & Liberman, 2004).Reflection and the impact on work practices and stakeholdersà Conflict constituted most of the management problems in nursing. High School Cliques and School Violence Essay Example for Free
High School Cliques and School Violence Essay There is an overabundant amount of cliques in high schools throughout the United States. Many teenagers believe the only way to be recognized is to be affiliated with the popular crowd. There are many factors that bring about cliques in high schools. Some are based on wealth, style, and race. But in many cases there are cliques that are a combination of these elements. Socioeconomic status is often a big factor in joining cliques. Realistically, wealthy and the poor do not go hand and hand. The children of wealthy homes often degrade people that are poverty struck. Cliques divide people through class distinction. If you are not rich, you cannot have the latest fashions or be able to spend money as freely as others on things, such as, a tenth pair of Nikes. Fashion is another huge aspect of high school cliques. Nearly every high school girl dresses like a supermodel. They purchase tight fitting jeans with oversized belts and a matching shirt from stores like Abercrombie and Fitch, Guess, and American Eagle. Not to mention all the matching jewelry or bling. Boys, too, are caught in a similar trap. They also dress to impress when purchasing a polo shirt or baggy jeans from Polo, Gap, or Structure. The media influences all of these styles. Magazines, television shows, and especially MTV, influence teens on style. For example, a popular television show like, The Hills, advertises high end clothing by having all their actors model their clothing. Cliques are also formed by race. Far too many times people exclude others because of their ethnicity. I realize that people tend to have more in common with people of similar heritage. However, this is no reason to exclude other nationalities. People should try to regulate this by having diverse backgrounds within a specific group. For example a group can consist of Whites, Blacks, Asians, and Latinos instead of one nationality. This way, new things can be learned from other cultures and backgrounds. Cliques dominate the high school scene across the United States. There is a range of cliques in every high school. Some of these range from cliques of fashion to groups of privilege. Any clique can leave demoralizing imprints on a person who does not fit in. These imprints have led to countless incidents of school violence ranging anywhere from physical fights to trying to blow up an entire school with faculty and students inside or even mass shootings, such as the case that occurred at Columbine High School. Violence in schools needs to stop. Too many innocent people are being hurt and even killed in some cases. One way to stop the violence is to regulate cliques. A simple way to do this is try to make all students interact with one another despite their differences in wealth, fashion, and attitude. This will show the students who normally fit in what it feels like to be an outsider.

The Invasion Of Panama :: essays research papers fc
The Invasion of Panama The U.S. invasion of Panama on December 20, 1989 was a mark of excellence on the behalf of the U.S. armed forces ability to effectively use the principles of war. The years leading up to the invasion set the climate for conflict; drug trafficking became a major problem between Panama and the U.S. in the 1980's, as well as Manuel Noriega's interference with the Panama canal employees rights under the Panama Canal Treaty; the final action that sparked the invasion was Noriega's attempt to fix the national election and the military enforcement of the fix after the election. Once this took place the U.S. began to make a plan for the invasion. The overwhelming success of this mission stemmed from the U.S. military's competent use of the principals of war. The primary success of a mission is the ability to define an overall attainable objective for the mission. In the formulation of the mission to invade Panama, the U.S. military set out four main objectives of the mission. First, they wanted to "protect American lives" (Watson 69). This meant they wanted to protect the lives of the 35,000 U.S. citizens in Panama from attacks by Noriega's Panama Defense Force or PDF; they also wanted to protect the lives of Americans at home by attempting to eliminate drug trafficking. Second, they wanted to "protect American interests and rights under the Panama Canal Treaty" (Watson 69). This could be done by abolishing Noriega's control of the workers who operate the canal, and his control of the canal itself. Third, they wanted to "restore a democratic and freely elected government to Panama" (Watson 107). Here, the U.S. would gain control over the country and ensure a fair election. And, finally, they wanted to "apprehend Noriega" (Watson 69) for prosecution in the U.S.. This would ease the difficulty of restoring democracy and eliminating drug trafficking, as well as giving Americans a feeling that justice was being served. These objectives gave the mission clear goals to achieve, allowing for the planing of each task that needed to be completed in order to accomplish the mission. Once objective has been established, the next step was to derive a simple plan, following the principle of simplicity, which is the formation of "Direct, simple plans and clear, concise orders to minimize misunderstanding and confusion" (Stofft 7). That is just what the U.S. did. They used direct and simple plans to carry out their mission; that is not to say the invasion was a simple operation, on the contrary, the command and control measures were very difficult. Thus, the plan was as simple as it could be with concern to the

People exploring new experiences will have to overcome many challenges, and will undergo personal growth. ââ¬ËInto the World' can be interpreted as outlooks of growing up and adjustment into new stages of a person's life. It can mean changing normally, or having to change without any choice In the matter. In either case, any person exploring new experiences will encounter challenges, but along the way they will undergo personal growth. This is apparent In the prescribed text, The Story of TomBrenna' by J Burke, as well as my chosen text, ââ¬ËThe Arrival' by Shawn Tan. The Idea of ââ¬Ënew experiences' may not always begin positively. For Instance, In Burke's novel, The Story of Tom Brenna', one disastrous accident made him and his family to leave their hometown of Mumble, forcing every character to go through an emotional release. This provokes Tom to become very reserved and distant as he grows resentful and bitter of the whole predicament and progressively being pushed â⠬Å"back Into that big, black holeâ⬠.He becomes very depressed, reclusive and alienated as he attempts to deal with the situation that his brother, Daniel, has caused. The author projects Tom's thoughts, emotions, perceptions and opinions through a large range of techniques. The audience is aware of Tom's growing guilt through the technique of first person writing (on page 124). ââ¬Å"Like I said, that was a low point. â⬠The believable, grammatical, impressionistic voice of the teenage narrator creates a confidential allegations with the readers, as well as keeping them engaged. It also gives us insight into Tom's inner most thoughts. As Tom plunges into intense feelings of guilt and animosity, he becomes numb to the struggles the other members of his family are facing. One of the most effective and engaging techniques used by the author to capture the reader's attention, is the use of flashbacks. The Story of Tom Brenna is a nonlinear narrative, and this is first evident in the prologue, which has a reflective tone, when it

how to Order Mandarin Chinese in a Restaurant
When you are visiting China or Taiwan, you will have lots of opportunities to sample the local cuisine. Since food is a national passion, there are restaurants and food stalls almost everywhere. There are many different types of food available, from the various regional dishes of China to Korean, Japanese, and Western. Fast food outlets are in all major cities, and there are also upscale restaurants specializing in Western food - Italian seems to be the most popular. Restaurant Customs When you enter a restaurant, you will be asked how many people are in your party and will be shown to a table. If an English menu is not available, and you dont read Chinese, you will have to ask for help, either from the waiter or a Chinese friend. Most restaurants are open only during meal times - 11:30 to 1:00 for lunch and 5:30 to 7:00 for dinner. Snacks are available almost any time at coffee houses, tea shops, and street vendors. Meals are eaten relatively quickly, and it is customary to leave the restaurant as soon as everyone is finished. Usually, one person will pay for the whole group, so be sure to take your turn in paying for the meal. Tipping is not common in either Taiwan or China, and you usually pay for the meal at the cash register. Here are some phrases to help you order food in a restaurant. The 1930S, Also Known As The Era Of The Great Depression,
The 1930s, also known as the era of the Great Depression, was a hard time not only in the United States, but all throughout the world. However, the United States was not just struggling financially, but had conflicting morales. During the Great Depression, the United States had two different presidents, Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt. These two presidents have very different opinions on how to try and bring the United States out of the Depression. Herbert Hoover wanted to limit government access and test the American character; he believed involving the government too much would destroy American citizensââ¬â¢ moral character and undermine their freedom. On the other hand, Franklin D. Roosevelt believed the government must actâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The article calls President Herbert Hoover by saying his is murdering citizens by ââ¬Å"murder of starvation, murder by disease, murder by killing all hope -- and the soulâ⬠(Cobbs and Blum 223). Congress had only granted $300,000,000 for direct relief for all the states and Hoover was the only one who could grant more money sooner than another five months of waiting. The article describes how everyday innocent people are ââ¬Å"murderedâ⬠because they starve to death merely because of lack of food. Charity agencies that are suppose to help families in need are having to turn people away because they are no longer able to help. Yet Herbert Hoover believed that the $300,000,000 should only be used in the case of ââ¬Å"absolute need and evidence of financial exhaustionâ⬠. (Cobbs and Blum 224). The people of America were upset with President Hoover for not realizing that all the states were already in this position and needed way more than help than he was willing to offer. When President Franklin. D. Roosevelt took office in 1933, his course of action was the exact opposite of President Herbert Hoover. In FDRââ¬â¢s inaugural address, Roosevelt was quoted saying, ââ¬Å"this Nati on asks for action, and action nowâ⬠(Cobbs and Blum 227). Should College Sports Be Banned - 1438 Words
College sports were introduced as intramurals to relieve stress caused by school. These games started out unregulated, injuring many players because the games became too aggressive. As the sports became more popular leagues started that would play other schools. Instead of school taking priority, athletes would skip days of school without having to come back. This lead to a negative impact on grades, which didnââ¬â¢t matter because there were no set rules for athletes. The National College Athletic Association, NCAA, formerly known as the Intercollegiate Athletic Association was founded in 1906. One of the main reasons it was created at this time is because football was almost wiped from colleges for being too dangerous, as were many other sports. Ultimately, they made rules that would protect athletes from being injured or exploited by their coaches or universities. Today the NCAA has many rules that all colleges, athletes, and coaches must abide by. The NCAA label college athletes as amateurs, consequently, they are not paid. Since they are in college they receive this label, only once they play beyond college do they earn compensation as professions. Some of the lucky ones receive full athletic scholarships that pay for the cost of attendance. But if an athlete is injured, the university can take away their Scholarship. Trying to combat this, the NCAA decided to allow colleges to give out multiyear scholarships, so if injuries occur the student wouldnââ¬â¢t have toShow MoreRelatedShould College Sports Be Banned?1301 Words à |à 6 PagesOver the last decade college sports have generated more and more money, for themselves and the conferences theyââ¬â¢re affiliated with. Social Policy on British Society
Question: Write an essay critically discusses the impact of social policy on British Society? Answer: Introduction The common problems faced by mature welfare states today are poverty, unemployment, increasing population and scarcity of resources. The main theme of social policy making in Britain is the provision of social welfare by the state (Arts Gelissen, 2002). Social policies can be defined as the programmes aimed at the enhancement of the well being and life of the individuals. In the current scenario, it is of utmost importance as it aims to uplift the status of the people and provide desirable way to the economy as a whole. Historical Influences The United Kingdom was once known as the Land of Rising Sun as it ruled more than half the World. Nevertheless, post the World War II slowly Britain started losing and freeing economies that proved that Britain had lost its Superpower status. The World War II had a major drill on the economy and the Labor Party had to impose severe restrictions to improve the financial health, as the Treasury was almost bankrupt. It took nearly a decade to return to the pre-world war prosperity levels. The first most important reform was the National Health Service in 1948 that aimed at providing free medical aid to everyone especially the poor and the nationalization of various industries. Over the years, Britain has continued to focus on the health, poverty, education and employment issues (Dean, 2006). The Beveridge Report was considered the Bible for Social welfare. The level of success and significance of this report is seen further. Socio-Political Influences Economic Climate Clement Attlee, the Labor Prime Minister was faced with the challenges of national planning for which reforms like more taxes for the rich, expansion of the welfare state, and providing free medical aid for everyone were the prime focus areas. The election of Winston Churchill ploughed back the faith in the institution of social welfare (Zeitlin et. al, 2005). The nation building process proved successful for a few years until Britain realized that it cannot afford to support such a massive population and so this led to colonization (Mau, 2003). Margaret Thatcher was the next most influential leader who introduced initiatives like deregulation, making labor markets accessible and flexible, privatization of state run and state owned enterprises, reducing the influence of the trade unions, so on and so forth. Thus, we can see how various rulers to ensure the public good at all times implement the social welfare policies (Dean, 2006). This reflects the importance of social policy and is evident that the policy was considered at all times. Right Left Ideologies The Right is supposed to be the Party of Order (Conservative Party or UKIP) and the Left is supposed to be the Party of Movement (Labor Party) with an aim to address the complex issues of social, economic and political dimensions. Left Wing is more progressive with laws on the good welfare system, healthier people and protection of women and minorities. The Right Wing believes in economic freedom, equality and survival of the fittest. Hence, a strong impact is by the right wing is seen (Kleinman, 2002). Consider the impact of Beveridge Report and its implications today On 1 December 1942, the Beveridge report was published by the Parliament and it stressed on the functioning of national insurance where flat rate was of main use, paid by the contributions of flat rate, would help during the time of old age, ill health and unemployment (Gallie Paugam, 2000). After 70 years it was seen that such factors were clearly spotted in the welfare state. The National Insurance is still entrusted with the task of entitlement to jobseeker allowance, support allowance, etc. (Ebbinghaus Mannow, 2001). Still such a happening is infused with complexity. The Basic State Pension (BSP), that is endowed with so many benefits and has taken a place of special importance for contribution has taken a universal role. BSP entitlements were set up by those who looked for the unemployed, the sick and those having a soft corner for children. In the current scenario, very little similarity is seen as compared to the system witnessed in the Beveridge Report. Till a certain extent, it can be remarked as the difference that exist between the scenario in which the report was made and the world in which we live in. the proposals were mainly for a country in which for the major extent the only lone parents were widows and the expectancy were lower as compared to the pension age. In the current scenario, UK is totally a different destination. In 1949 the percentage of working age men was 96% , but fallen to 76%, on the other hand working age women percentage has risen from 40% to 66%. When the reports were prepared, the report was lower than one in 20 births was married outside; and presently more than one in five children is brought up with a single parent. The life expectancy has enhanced from 63 in 1940 to 78 in 2010, on the other hand the male state age pension is the same provided in the Beveridges day. The variations in the employment, family composition, and longevity exposed the disadvantages of the report. A system related to the contributory mechanism cannot accommodate groups in seek of help, but apart from the contribution history like lone parents and the unemployment in the long-term (Eilperin Mufson, 2015). Challenges The history provides a strong statement that sheds light on the recognition of the welfare system to be adapted in a manner that adheres to the changes (Eilperin Mufson, 2015). The amounts paid to the social insurance framework are mostly looked upon as an additional tax burden. Even after 70 years of the Beveridge Report, there is a strong challenge for the government because big choices need to be fulfilled; that will enable strong cut to the budget of the security budget. Such decision needs to be implemented with long-term perspective and to enhance the system that can be affordable, as well as effective in nature. Factors influencing the Social Policies Social Policy makers are influenced by main factors, including the media, political ideologies, pressure groups culture, and the economy. Over years, the technological advancement has also led to better services and so the social policies are to be altered accordingly (Spicker, 2015). As the Beveridge Report failed due to the factors listed above. Illustration of Present day policies for Health: The Public expenditure on healthcare is close to 7.8% of the total Gross Domestic Product. According to the 2014 Report, the healthcare system of United Kingdom is placed first in terms of Quality of care, Efficiency, Equality and access to healthcare. The NHS provides the primary healthcare facilities whereas the hospitals provide specialized facilities (Spicker, 2015). NHS has also introduced Telephone advisory services for non-emergency medical aid, guidelines for best practices and cost control. This is of immense benefit to the citizens and helps to promote the economy. Conclusion The role of national government as well as EU in development of social policy is the major point of attraction. Colonization has been done and different polices has been framed by different countries, but the role of the European Union has been huge, It has contributed towards the welfare of all countries and this is highlighted by the similarity in the services, as well as facilities that are offered by the NHS and the comparative standards that are set by all the countries (Spicker, 2015). Majorly, the welfare of the European Union is taken into consideration and the polices are drafted keeping this viewpoint. Role of Emotional Intelligence in Organizational free essay sample
To achieve it, the human capital of the organization may even go too far by challenging and demolishing the age old established premises and creating a vibrant and functional one in its place. Therefore, looking at the nature of mental exercise and psychic energy used while organizational members learn together, it is not only the cognitive brain but also the emotional brain that has role to play. Further, for organizational learning to be in full swing, there is a great deal of convergent as well as divergent thinking, which is full of agony and ecstasy for organizational members. Therefore, the key to successful management is management of destructive emotions. Hence, the author believes that organizational learning can be realized successfully when the human resources are able to develop needed emotional competencies. Organizational Learning: A Prerogative in the Present Millennium The present millennium has rightly been perceived to be a new era in the evolution of organizational life and structure. As a result, organizations are forced to make significant transformations in order to adapt and survive in this new world.Revans (1983) says that in any epoch of rapid change, those organizations which are unable to adapt will soon find themselves in trouble, and adaptation is achieved only by learning, namely, by being able to do tomorrow that which might have been unnecessary today. Similarly, Zuboff (1988) observes that todays organizations may indeed have little choice but to become a learning institution. Further, she adds that learning is the heart of productive activity in every organization and learning is the new form of labor. Therefore, it may be said that todays solutions will be totally inadequate for tomorrows challenges when the main focus of each organization is on the customer and not on workers, in an economy which has shifted from being national to global. In this context, the only competitive weapon for organizations is learning at an organizational level. It call s for the organization to mobilize every resource to facilitate learning at an individual level to move up the ladder to the group and then to the organizational level. Therefore, for an organization to survive and grow, it has to let all its members from the lowest rung to the top-most level to learn as one entity rather than the other way round. Hence, companies that do not become learning organizations will soon go the way of the dinosaur because they are unable to adjust quickly enough to the changing environment (Schwandt and Marquardt, 2000). Owen (1991) says that it is not that profit and product are no longer important for organizations, but without continual learning, profits and products will no longer be possible. Therefore, the business of business is learning and all else will follow. According to Dilworth (1998), change now tends to outdistance our ability to learn and it is only by improving the learning capacity of organizations can we deal with change dynamics. â⬠¢What is Organizational Learning? The concept of organizational learning has been widely espoused. The general consensus that if organizations were to change and innovat e, organizational learning has had to be addressed. Argyris and Schons (1978) conceptualisation of double-loop and deutero learning succinctly explains what organizational learning is about.
