High School Cliques and School Violence Essay There is an overabundant amount of cliques in high schools throughout the United States. Many teenagers believe the only way to be recognized is to be affiliated with the popular crowd. There are many factors that bring about cliques in high schools. Some are based on wealth, style, and race. But in many cases there are cliques that are a combination of these elements. Socioeconomic status is often a big factor in joining cliques. Realistically, wealthy and the poor do not go hand and hand. The children of wealthy homes often degrade people that are poverty struck. Cliques divide people through class distinction. If you are not rich, you cannot have the latest fashions or be able to spend money as freely as others on things, such as, a tenth pair of Nikes. Fashion is another huge aspect of high school cliques. Nearly every high school girl dresses like a supermodel. They purchase tight fitting jeans with oversized belts and a matching shirt from stores like Abercrombie and Fitch, Guess, and American Eagle. Not to mention all the matching jewelry or bling. Boys, too, are caught in a similar trap. They also dress to impress when purchasing a polo shirt or baggy jeans from Polo, Gap, or Structure. The media influences all of these styles. Magazines, television shows, and especially MTV, influence teens on style. For example, a popular television show like, The Hills, advertises high end clothing by having all their actors model their clothing. Cliques are also formed by race. Far too many times people exclude others because of their ethnicity. I realize that people tend to have more in common with people of similar heritage. However, this is no reason to exclude other nationalities. People should try to regulate this by having diverse backgrounds within a specific group. For example a group can consist of Whites, Blacks, Asians, and Latinos instead of one nationality. This way, new things can be learned from other cultures and backgrounds. Cliques dominate the high school scene across the United States. There is a range of cliques in every high school. Some of these range from cliques of fashion to groups of privilege. Any clique can leave demoralizing imprints on a person who does not fit in. These imprints have led to countless incidents of school violence ranging anywhere from physical fights to trying to blow up an entire school with faculty and students inside or even mass shootings, such as the case that occurred at Columbine High School. Violence in schools needs to stop. Too many innocent people are being hurt and even killed in some cases. One way to stop the violence is to regulate cliques. A simple way to do this is try to make all students interact with one another despite their differences in wealth, fashion, and attitude. This will show the students who normally fit in what it feels like to be an outsider.

The Invasion of Panama The U.S. invasion of Panama on December 20, 1989 was a mark of excellence on the behalf of the U.S. armed forces ability to effectively use the principles of war. The years leading up to the invasion set the climate for conflict; drug trafficking became a major problem between Panama and the U.S. in the 1980's, as well as Manuel Noriega's interference with the Panama canal employees rights under the Panama Canal Treaty; the final action that sparked the invasion was Noriega's attempt to fix the national election and the military enforcement of the fix after the election. Once this took place the U.S. began to make a plan for the invasion. The overwhelming success of this mission stemmed from the U.S. military's competent use of the principals of war. The primary success of a mission is the ability to define an overall attainable objective for the mission. In the formulation of the mission to invade Panama, the U.S. military set out four main objectives of the mission. First, they wanted to "protect American lives" (Watson 69). This meant they wanted to protect the lives of the 35,000 U.S. citizens in Panama from attacks by Noriega's Panama Defense Force or PDF; they also wanted to protect the lives of Americans at home by attempting to eliminate drug trafficking. Second, they wanted to "protect American interests and rights under the Panama Canal Treaty" (Watson 69). This could be done by abolishing Noriega's control of the workers who operate the canal, and his control of the canal itself. Third, they wanted to "restore a democratic and freely elected government to Panama" (Watson 107). Here, the U.S. would gain control over the country and ensure a fair election. And, finally, they wanted to "apprehend Noriega" (Watson 69) for prosecution in the U.S.. This would ease the difficulty of restoring democracy and eliminating drug trafficking, as well as giving Americans a feeling that justice was being served. These objectives gave the mission clear goals to achieve, allowing for the planing of each task that needed to be completed in order to accomplish the mission. Once objective has been established, the next step was to derive a simple plan, following the principle of simplicity, which is the formation of "Direct, simple plans and clear, concise orders to minimize misunderstanding and confusion" (Stofft 7). That is just what the U.S. did. They used direct and simple plans to carry out their mission; that is not to say the invasion was a simple operation, on the contrary, the command and control measures were very difficult. People exploring new experiences will have to overcome many challenges, and will undergo personal growth. ââ¬ËInto the World' can be interpreted as outlooks of growing up and adjustment into new stages of a person's life. It can mean changing normally, or having to change without any choice In the matter. In either case, any person exploring new experiences will encounter challenges, but along the way they will undergo personal growth. This is apparent In the prescribed text, The Story of TomBrenna' by J Burke, as well as my chosen text, ââ¬ËThe Arrival' by Shawn Tan. The Idea of ââ¬Ënew experiences' may not always begin positively. For Instance, In Burke's novel, The Story of Tom Brenna', one disastrous accident made him and his family to leave their hometown of Mumble, forcing every character to go through an emotional release. This provokes Tom to become very reserved and distant as he grows resentful and bitter of the whole predicament and progressively being pushed â⠬Å"back Into that big, black holeâ⬠.He becomes very depressed, reclusive and alienated as he attempts to deal with the situation that his brother, Daniel, has caused. The author projects Tom's thoughts, emotions, perceptions and opinions through a large range of techniques. The audience is aware of Tom's growing guilt through the technique of first person writing (on page 124). ââ¬Å"Like I said, that was a low point. â⬠The believable, grammatical, impressionistic voice of the teenage narrator creates a confidential allegations with the readers, as well as keeping them engaged.It also gives us insight into Tom's inner most thoughts. The 1930S, Also Known As The Era Of The Great Depression,
The 1930s, also known as the era of the Great Depression, was a hard time not only in the United States, but all throughout the world. However, the United States was not just struggling financially, but had conflicting morales. During the Great Depression, the United States had two different presidents, Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt. These two presidents have very different opinions on how to try and bring the United States out of the Depression. Herbert Hoover wanted to limit government access and test the American character; he believed involving the government too much would destroy American citizensââ¬â¢ moral character and undermine their freedom. On the other hand, Franklin D. College sports were introduced as intramurals to relieve stress caused by school. These games started out unregulated, injuring many players because the games became too aggressive. As the sports became more popular leagues started that would play other schools. Instead of school taking priority, athletes would skip days of school without having to come back. This lead to a negative impact on grades, which didnââ¬â¢t matter because there were no set rules for athletes. The National College Athletic Association, NCAA, formerly known as the Intercollegiate Athletic Association was founded in 1906. One of the main reasons it was created at this time is because football was almost wiped from colleges for being too dangerous, as were many other sports. Ultimately, they made rules that would protect athletes from being injured or exploited by their coaches or universities. Today the NCAA has many rules that all colleges, athletes, and coaches must abide by. The NCAA label college athletes as amateurs, consequently, they are not paid. Since they are in college they receive this label, only once they play beyond college do they earn compensation as professions. Some of the lucky ones receive full athletic scholarships that pay for the cost of attendance. But if an athlete is injured, the university can take away their Scholarship. These social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. are the sources by which h the organizations can have the glimpse of the ideas and opinions of the customers. Through this the companies can identify whether the brand is liked by the customers or not, what is needed to be improved and many more other things. Customers get a platform to share their opinion, experience and view point about the products, services and brand image of the company. This increases the promotion of the company which leads to extensive brand awareness (Bja and Bala?, 2014). These social media platforms offer a place to the companies to post and update their content. The content is the one which h attracts the individuals and fascinate them to be the customer of that product or service. The more facilitating the content is the higher are the potential customers and the brand recognition of the company. The content can be in the form of a blog, news, audio, video, reports etc. earlier it was a well-established notion that the online marketing is a threatening substitute for traditional marketing. Individuals have to shut down their businesses but in present scenario the situation has been changed, today the social media marketing is regarded as an additional channel for marketing instead of a substitute. The social media marketing has not overtaken traditional marketing but provided support and an improved hand to raise the brand awareness and sales of the organizations (Tuten and Solomon, 2014). Presently approximately 86% of the marketers are taking use of social media for the effective marketing of their products and most of them are getting high success and improved brand awareness (Bja and Bala?, 2014). There are brands which have developed leadership in online marketing and are recognized by these social media platforms only such as Amazon, Paytm etc. There are several benefits of social media marketing such as robust business-client association, getting feedback of customers, declined market cots, robust and increased online presence of an organization enhance the reliability of the company, high exposure, up surged sales and brand credibility. It is a two way communication channel which gives both the customers as well as the company to interact and make a strong customer-business relationship (Gensler, et al., 2013). With all above benefits there are few dark sides also of social media marketing which stop individuals to completely depend over these marketing tools. There are few things such as voiding of various privacy and legal issues of the users, aggressive advertising of the brand and lack of the knowledge regarding e-commerce. All these things lead to negative out comes such as driving the customers away, developing a negative brand image among the customers or dropping down of sales. The breaking of advertising laws is a big crime which leads to various punishments and legal penalties. This lessens the image of the company in the eyes of the customers. Individuals cut themselves from such brands which have a negative image in public which leads to negative returns (Neti, 2011). Conclusion From this essay it can be concluded that there has been extensive use of social media for the purpose of marketing which is beneficial for the companies as well as for the customers. It is a process of sharing knowledge and having a two side communication. These marketing channels give various benefits and positive outcomes to the companies such as the organizations are boosting their sales and profits enormously. There are various small companies which get huge recognition through promoting and marketing them in these social media platforms. This give a belief that without high marketing expenses organization can develop them elves and can achieve increased brand awareness. It is also necessary that the comp[anise must first get in-depth knowledge of e-commerce and also take care of all the on line advertising rules an d policies.
